I had a chat with my close friend Shabnam about our childhood memories. Our families were friends throughout our lives. Our fathers were strong political leaders, and mothers incredible women. We have many shared memories and most important of all, we have a shared love for each other.
We talked about some of our memories about our parents. We remembered how we used to have a constant stream of people coming in and out of our house seeking advice from our fathers and how we felt so connected to our community. As all our extended families were in India, our community was so important to us. We touched on how we felt safe in Southall and how we all looked out for each other.
